Help Us Help Our Girls and Women.
A Dollar a Day to Save a Child.
“Tigray children under five are in crisis because they are severely malnourished. One dollar a day, or thirty dollars per month, would give families in Sudanese refugee camps, especially single mothers, necessities to survive.
Food like milk, eggs, and other protein could be provided for. Essentials like soap and wood with which to cook food would be available.
Your gift would combat severe acute malnutrition (SAM), childhood disease, and trauma.”
Demera Launched the Hope 4 Tigray Women Initiative.
The Girls And Women Of Tigray Need Help.
in 2021, Our Chef-Owner Tigist Reda launched a nonprofit program that uses her power and passion for culture and cuisine to help support a cause of great importance to her, Hope 4 Tigray Women. The program uses various culinary events across Chicagoland where 100% of proceeds of ticket, vendor, and silent auction sales will go to Health Professionals for Tigray (HPN4Tigray), a humanitarian nonprofit organization established in 2020 in light of the recent humanitarian crisis in Tigray; made up of healthcare and other professionals in the diaspora.
Demera’s goal is was to raise a minimum of $50,000 for this cause, and through the generosity of the individuals like you, sponsorships, and volunteers across the community, we’ve surpassed that goal.
Every dollar counts, and our quest to help our women of Tigray continues. The humanitarian crisis is not over.
Every minute of service counts. No amount is too small and all volunteers are gifts.
Tigray Is In Crisis.
War and atrocious crimes have had debilitating impacts especially on the women and girls of Tigray. Rape and Sexual violence have been used as a weapon of war to inflict lasting physical and psychological damage on women and girls in Tigray. Their suffering is indescribable.
Health systems have been disrupted and hospitals have been looted of life-sustaining equipment and medications. Starvation is rampant and civilians are left without basic medical care or running ambulances.
Critical life-saving supplies are running dangerously low in some facilities and are completely nonexistent in others. Most media outlets have been shut out of the region, which makes it difficult to increase awareness of these crimes across the globe.

Live music, the celebration of Ashenda, a unique traditional Tigraian festival, the ceremonious and traditional Ethiopian coffee experience, and vendors showcasing the beauty of Ethiopian artifacts will add a memorable event. There will be a silent auction of cultural items.
The Lakewood is an unforgettable venue graciously provided by the Paramount Group Chicago.
The evening will also feature live music and a keynote from 2019 CNN Hero Freweini Mebrahatu. CNN Heroes is a year-long initiative that honors everyday people for their selfless, creative efforts to help others. Ms. Mebrahatu has impacted the lives of millions of women and girls in Tigray, Afar, and other parts of Ethiopia, through the introduction of a revolutionary line of feminine care products to the region. Following a riveting panel highlighting experiences from the ongoing crisis in Tigray, a silent auction of Ethiopian artifacts and collectibles will also take place, with all proceeds supporting HPN4Tigray.
